HOW TO PICK A BREEDER

Weimaraner Breeders suggest prospective buyers research and question Weimaraner breeders to ensure the Weimaraners they purchase are healthy. The following questions will help you decide if this is the Ohio Weimaraner breeder you want to do business with:

  1. Is a written health guarantee on the Weimaraner provided?
  2. Is the puppy’s mother and father on the premises?
  3. If the puppy’s mother and father are not available for viewing, where are they?
  4. How many times have the puppy’s mother and father been bred together (NOTE: over breeding and/or inbreeding may cause genetic defects)
  5. Ask to see the pedigree papers on the puppy’s mother and father.
  6. Ask how many litters, Weimaraners or other breeds of dogs, are currently on the premises (be cautious of “Puppy Mills”).
  7. Ask if the puppy has received a health check from a licensed veterinary and is the document available for review.
  8. Ask at what age will the Weimaraner breeder release the puppy(s) to the new owner (Before 7 to 8 weeks is too soon).
